Republican Party legislators in the House have begun an investigation aimed at Democratic leaders Washington to give reason for the riots and violent protests that have been taking place in recent days.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and James Comer (R-Ky.), two high-ranking congressmen on the House Judiciary and Oversight committees respectively, want D.C. Mayor Muriel Bower to submit reports describing how the riots in the city have been handled.

“Like other Democratic-run cities, the District of Columbia [D.C.] under her leadership has allowed violent radical leftist extremists to commit senseless acts of violence and destruction,” Jordan and Comer said in a letter obtained Wednesday by Newsweek.

“By their inaction in response to your chaos, these leftist agitators have been emboldened to be even more aggressive and more dangerous,” the letter continued.

Jordan and Comer requested copies of documents and communications related to the city’s response to the riots that have occurred since June 1, and information on whether any “perpetrator” of the violent confrontations was “paid or otherwise induced to commit these acts” by a third party, according to Newsweek.

As the letter indicates, as in other Democratic cities, D.C. under her leadership has allowed leftist radicals to commit acts of violence and senseless destruction.

In the letter Jordan and Comer listed several cases of unrest such as the confrontation in which radical Black Lives Matter activists harassed those outside stores and restaurants on Aug. 24.

One of the viral videos recorded the moment when a mob of Black Lives Matter protesters approached a restaurant customer to pressure her to show solidarity with the radical leftist movement and raise her fist in support.

Jordan and Comer also mentioned in the letter the episode in which Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and his wife were harassed by the leftist protesters after they left the Republican National Convention where President Trump gave his acceptance speech, as reported by Breitbart News.

During the weekend, five people were arrested in D.C. and several police officers were injured after violent confrontations with the protesters who set fires and destroyed property.

President Trump said through a tweet on Sunday, “[Bowser] should arrest these agitators and thugs!Clean up D.C. or the Federal Government will do it for you. Enough!!!.
