U.S. Attorney General William Barr criticized most of the nation’s media coverage of the violent riots in several cities, calling them “peaceful” against the evidence.
“They’re basically a collection of liars. Most of the mainstream media,” said Barr on Sept. 11, according to Townhall.
He also added, “The press has dropped, in my view, and I’m talking about the national mainstream media, has dropped any pretense of professional objectivity and are political actors.”
Cities such as New York, Portland, Seattle, Los Angeles, Kenosha, and others, under Democratic leadership, were shaken by the violent riots that followed the death of African American George Floyd, in police custody on May 25.
The mainstream media insisted on presenting the riots as “peaceful” despite the deaths of hundreds of people, including dozens of children, the destruction of thousands of businesses, and attacks on federal property.
“It’s very destructive to our republic; it’s very destructive to the Democratic system to have that, especially being so monolithic,” Barr said.
“It’s funny that you had record numbers of police being injured during ‘peaceful’ protests,’ protests,” Barr said, noting that in protests it is usually the protesters who are injured and not the police.
Despite his disenchantment with the media, he acknowledged the ethical professional performance of some of the media.
“I think there are a handful of reporters in the mainstream media that still have journalistic integrity, and there are some, but the overwhelming majority don’t have it anymore,” conceded Barr.
He also alluded to the work of the authorities to identify the agitators who caused so much damage, and those who contributed money to cause the chaos.
“People are pouring through all of the videos trying to identify people to hold people accountable,” Barr said, involving extreme leftist groups like antifa.
“I think antifa and antifa-like groups are at the center of it,” Barr said.
What is clear is the support of the Democrats. In fact, almost all of the vandalized cities are run by Democrats, who even rejected President Donald Trump’s offer to help protect citizens and their property.
The intervention of the candidate for the vice presidency, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), is noteworthy. She not only congratulated the anarchists but announced that the riots will continue after the presidential elections.
