Citizens have begun filing lawsuits with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) against media networks that are misrepresenting Democratic candidate Joe Biden as the “president elect” of the United States.
In the “Consumer Guides,” the FCC details that the agency is open to receiving “complaints about false ‘information’ (misinformation).
In its section on Broadcasting False Information, it clarifies that the agency “reviews all complaints for possible violation of its rules, which are narrow in scope.”
“FCC rules specifically say that ‘the public harm: must begin immediately and cause direct and actual damage to property or the health or safety of the general public; or divert law enforcement or public health and safety authorities from their duties,” it explains.
“It is illegal for broadcasters to intentionally distort the news, and the FCC may act on complaints if there is documented evidence of such behavior from persons with direct personal knowledge,” the agency states.
That’s why Republican citizens are calling on the community to denounce media networks that have falsely reported Joe Biden as the “president-elect,” even though at least half a dozen states have yet to produce definitive results and there is a huge range of allegations of fraud and irregularities.
One of the people in charge of this citizen movement is Maria Viti, who from her Twitter account has made a “call to action” for more people to come forward.
“File a complaint with the FCC against every network falsely claiming Joe Biden is the President Elect,” she said on her Twitter account sharing the link to the FCC.

Her tweet had 2,400 “Likes” and about 1,500 retweets.
“The media can make projections for each state but have no legal authority to call a state until the state election results are certified,” her added in another message.

Is there any legal recourse to hold them accountable for overstepping?

Author Michelle Malkin, who has 2.2 million followers on Twitter, also joined the campaign, urging the FCC to “crack down” on the issue.

After large media corporations hastily recognized Biden as the winner, President Trump’s campaign issued a statement making it clear that the election was not yet closed.
In fact, President Trump’s campaign legal team has already filed dozens of lawsuits for fraud and irregularities that they say could lead to the president’s re-election.
