Appearing on CBS on Saturday afternoon, April 3, before Baylor and Houston taking the court in the Final Four tournament, former NBA player Charles Barkley, known for speaking his mind, made some remarks about America’s political system.

“I truly believe in my heart most white people and black people are awesome people. But we’re so stupid, following our politicians, whether they are Republicans or Democrats.” Barkley criticized the feud between Democrats and Republicans as dividing white and black people, demonizing unity among American people.

As the former NBA great expressed that American people, no matter their color, are “great people,” he points out that it is “stupid” to be influenced by the parties’ agenda and fight against each other.

“Their (the Democrats and the Republicans) only job is, ‘Hey, let’s make these people not like each other. We don’t live in their neighborhoods, we all got money, let’s make the whites and blacks not like each other, let’s make rich people and poor people not like each other, let’s scramble the middle class,” Barkley said, “I truly believe that in my heart.”
