Actress Mollie Fitzgerald, who played a small role in “Captain America: The First Avenger” was charged with second-degree murder on Tuesday, Dec. 31, after being accused of fatally stabbing her mother in Olathe, Kansas.

Police said they responded to a call of an armed disturbance on Dec.20 and found Mollie’s 68-year-old mother, Patricia, dead from an apparent stab inside her home. The actress was on the scene and transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Mollie is being held on a $500,000 bond, and the case remains under investigation. She’s set to be arraigned on Thursday, Jan. 2.

Patricia will be buried on Friday at the Divine Mercy Parish in Gardner, Kansas. She is survived by her husband of 46 years Terry Fitzgerald.

An online obituary described Patricia as “one of the kindest people you could ever meet, she was always helping people and animals in need.”

“She loved sports and was an avid tennis player and was a huge fan of the Rockets and the NBA.”
