Authorities Saturday identified the Escondido man whose body was found wrapped in a tarp in the trunk of an abandoned car in Anaheim last week, but the mystery surrounding how he died and who killed him remained.
The body of Adrian Darren Bonar, 34, was found shortly before 11 a.m. Thursday , Oct. 17, when authorities were having an abandoned car towed. But police released no information about a cause of death.
California Highway Patrol officers were about to tow the car, which was left underneath the connector road of the Riverside (91) Freeway to Foothill (241) Toll Road Thursday. Suddenly, they found “suspicious” objects, prompting them to notify Anaheim police at 10:45 a.m., Anaheim Police Department Sgt. Daron Wyatt said.
The body was covered in a blue tarp, as well as duct tape.
“Looks like he spent most of his time at motels in the North San Diego County area and the Los Angeles County area. We had no previous contact with him in Anaheim,” Wyatt said.
Bonar’s Facebook page showed him as a veteran of the U.S. Army.
“Detectives are asking anyone who has had contact with, or has seen Bonar over the past few weeks, to please call 714-321-3669,” Wyatt said.
