California Superior Court Judge Peter Wilson ordered the immediate release of 1,800 inmates in Orange County, many of whom were highly dangerous. Still, he met with resistance from Sheriff Don Barnes, who rejected the order, referring to it as “an absurdity.”
It’s another nonsensical action by Democrats and like-minded officials.
The judge cited possible mass CCP Virus contamination within the prison as his reason for the order.
Barnes considered the request untimely. He classified it as a great danger to society. For that reason, he decided to disobey the judge’s order and not release the inmates.
“We’ve released 1,400 inmates to date since March for low-level offenders. The only inmates remaining now are serious offenders,” Barnes explained in a dialogue with Fox News. “Of the medically vulnerable, 90 of them are in custody for murder or attempted murder, 94 for child molestation.”
In response to the judge’s request, Barnes said that free citizens have as much risk of contracting the CCP Virus as do prisoners. Releasing the prisoners only adds the risk of violent crime to their problems.
Wilson based his judgment on the incorrect assumption that the prison service was not carrying out sufficient checks for the CCP Virus, nor was a safe environment created for the prisoners.
However, Barnes denied his claims and said, “We have been well ahead of the curve in terms of best practice within our prisons. We mitigated our COVID [CCP Virus] crisis from 220 cases in March to zero last Monday.”
It’s no accident that the judge’s request came from a California court when California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom had already announced the early release of 18,000 prisoners due to the CCP Virus in August of this year.
More than 10,000 prisoners had been released earlier on the same grounds.
The president of the California Association of Police Chiefs, Eric Núñez, was concerned about the early releases and the governor’s announcement to continue releasing prisoners without considering the impact on public safety.
Some U.S. cities and states are becoming increasingly chaotic and uncertain in their direction. Meanwhile, Democratic rulers insist on the closure and lockdown of businesses, destroying the economy, social, and family ties. They choose to defund the police and free criminals and murderers.
In California’s largest metropolitan areas like San Francisco, the pandemic restrictions are absurdly demanding. The authorities seek to instill fear of the virus, and with the complicity of the mass media, they justify restrictions and isolation.
But as restrictions increase, so does violence, crime, drugs, and misery. But on what are the authorities focusing? On criminalizing shopkeepers, children who do not wear masks, and religious people visiting churches, instead of dealing with real criminals.
