Twenty-three-year-old Stephanie Redondo was taken into custody after assaulting two high school boys and trying to push one of them off a bridge in Ladera Ranch, California, authorities said.
Deputies of Orange County Sheriff’s Department responded to multiple calls at about 4 p.m. reporting someone trying to jump off the Crown Valley Parkway bridge. When they arrived, they found that the woman had grabbed one of the boys and tried to push him off the bridge safety railing, Orange County officials said.
The juvenile victim managed to fight her off and was not seriously injured.
The boys are members of Capistrano Valley High School’s cross-country team and were running in the area at the time of the incident.
Redondo, a transient, was charged on attempted murder and booked into an Orange County jail, officials said. She was being held on $500,000 bail, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Redondo’s arraignment was scheduled for Aug. 27.
