For over a decade, he was a bright spot on your morning commute with his radio show on Q-93.
CJ “Superstar” Morgan has died.
Morgan had been suffering from health issues since May 2015, according to WDSU.
Morgan had suffered multiple strokes more than the years and a heart attack, which placed him in hospice care.
Born Clifton J. Monix. He was a native of Clarksdale, Mississippi, and realized he wished to work in radio at the age of 11.
He began to work professionally as a radio host at the age of 16.
Morgan is a radio and broadcasting and veteran with over 40 years experience in the industry.
His famed tag line “CJ Morgan you a fool” began the workday for so many. He and Monica Pierre hosted the No. 1 morning drive program in New Orleans. He spent 17 years at Q-93.
In recent years his health began to decline. Morgan died this morning, Aug. 15, 2019.
He is survived by his wife Linda and his children and grandchildren.
His colleague Wild Wayne issued the following statement on his passing:
“CJ was iconic in New Orleans! Truly a giant in the modern radio era. He was a part of EVERYONES morning family! And the consummate professional and family man! Superstar was truly his middle name… CJ SUPERSTAR MORGAN”
