With all the new information that has come to light over the targeting of retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn by the previous Obama administration, real accountability needs to happen said House Minority Whip, Steve Scalise (R-La.). “People need to go to jail,” he said on Newsmax TV on Monday, May 4.

“The first thing that needs to happen is real accountability,” Scalise told host Sean Spicer. “[Rep.] Devin Nunes, my colleague from California, has been beating this drum for years. He started digging in, exposing the fact that you had what we called dirty cops in the FBI.”

“There were people in the FBI, probably all the way up to the top, who were plotting to undermine the elected president of the United States,” Scalise said. “That shouldn’t happen to anybody from any party and everybody ought to be outraged, no matter what your affiliation.”

“This might happen in third-world nations,” Scalise said, adding that “we already know” the names of some of the people allegedly involved, including former FBI agent Peter Strzok and his one-time lover, former FBI lawyer Lisa Page, reports BPR.

“I don’t know if it goes all the way up to [former FBI Director James] Comey, but boy it sure looks like it does, when they make reference to the seventh floor,” Scalise said.

Retired Lt.Gen. Michael Flynn

Flynn, a war hero with 33 years of service to the United States, became President Trump’s first national security adviser, but he was forced to resign after one month in the position for allegedly misleading Vice President Mike Pence with regard to a phone conversation he had with a Russian diplomat.

Pence has since said he’s “inclined, more than ever ” to believe Flynn did not deliberately mislead him. This comes after bombshell evidence was released in April that indicated FBI agents including Strzok were involved in a plot to ensnare Flynn in a perjury trap, allowing charges to be laid against the general and have him fired.

“Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn … was unfairly and unjustly targeted by deep state bureaucrats that clearly, with all the evidence now to prove it, wanted to take him down,” said Fox News host Sean Hannity on April 30. Hannity added that the interview that led to the case against Flynn was “an illegal abuse of power, corrupt ambush.”

Bombshell evidence has emerged that “newly unsealed documents that prove that corrupt agents from Jim Comey’s FBI were discussing strategies on how to set General Flynn up on what we call a perjury trap,” said Hannity. “And according to one handwritten note, an unnamed agent asked, ‘Well, what is our goal here? Is it truth, admission, or to get him to lie?’” Hannity continued. “To get him to lie—is that our goal? ‘So we can prosecute him or get him fired.’ Is that the FBI’s goal?”

It would certainly seem to be the case.
