Mary Lou Rodriguez’s body was found in Lampasas County, Texas on Tuesday, July 30, according to police. She was reported missing by her sister on Saturday.

Her husband, 25-year-old Enrico Perez, was arrested in Blanco County and charged with murder after admitting to killing his common-law wife. Perez told police he had an argument with Rodriguez and later killed her, though officials have not determined how the wife died.

An officer, who was initially called to Rodriguez’s home after she was reported missing, said that he saw fingernails on the floor of the house and believed they belonged to Rodriguez.

Police Chief William McManus said they hadn’t received any calls of domestic violence from Rodriguez. A big issue of focus for the San Antonio police is handling family violence, McManus said.

Perez is being held in custody without bond. He will be extradited to Bexar County for prosecution, McManus said.
