Texas Republican Representative Chip Roy on Friday, June 11, introduced legislation designed to prohibit members of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) from purchasing land in the United States.
Chip Roy, along with other Committee members on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), expressed concern over the Chinese Communist Party’s pursuit of global power and raised the possibility of banning land purchases from CCP members through federal law.
The bill, titled the “Protecting America’s Land from Foreign Interference Act,” aims to curb foreign influence gained through major land purchases in the United States by members of the Chinese communist regime, which Roy identifies as a major national security threat, Breitbart reported.
The Republican initiative comes on the heels of news that a Chinese energy company recently purchased a 52,000-hectare (130,000-acre) wind farm in Texas, right next to a U.S. Air Force base, according to Fox 29 reports.
The recent development raised two questions, firstly what is the need for a foreign company with deep ties to the Chinese communist regime to own some of the energy produced in the United States. And secondly, why the interest in buying a territory that happens to be located next to a U.S. military base where various air force training is regularly carried out? Is it a mere coincidence? Or is it a strategic purchase?
Both Chip Roy and other legislators are inclined to the second option and for that reason, they considered that the purchase of these lands, together with other controversial ones, is enough reason to take action on the matter.
“In their quest for global domination, China has been buying up land and strategic infrastructure all over the world and in the United States,” Roy said in a statement. “Direct Chinese investment in the US economy is a major threat to the American way of life and requires that we take serious action to thwart the Chinese Communist party (CCP) from ever seizing control of strategically valuable domestic assets in the US.”
The bill gives the right and responsibility to the United States president to take the necessary steps to prohibit CCP members from purchasing land in the United States.

Roy’s proposal came in the same week that the U.S. Senate passed a bill aimed at revitalizing America’s technology footprint to counter Communist China.
The “Innovation and Competition Act” legislation largely attracted bipartisan support with the promise of bolstering America’s competitive edge by investing billions of dollars in scientific and technological innovations, including artificial intelligence, computer chips, and robotics.
Over the past few years, the Trump administration implemented strong measures against the Chinese regime’s encroachment in the United States and around the world. Many measures were put on hold with the new administration that still does not have a clear and defined message against the regime and its allies in the world.
Meanwhile, groups of Republicans and conservatives, like Roy and so many others, continue to continue along the path set by Trump by imposing firmness against the Chinese regime.
