Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.) said in an interview with Breitbart that the Biden administration’s open border policy has increased the trafficking of drugs derived from Chinese fentanyl known to be highly fatal.
“China is pumping this fentanyl into Mexico … where it’s manufactured and used as a component of drugs that are coming in and killing our kids in Tennessee,” Hagerty said.
At least 30,000 Americans die each year from overdoses from drugs entering the country from across the southern border.
Hagerty criticized Biden’s decisions to eliminate former President Trump’s Stay in Mexico policy under which many bogus asylum-seekers ended up returning to their country to await a judicial resolution from U.S. authorities.
Now, the Democratic administration reinstated the catch-and-release practice whereby all illegal aliens who are caught are released onto U.S. soil.
Many of these immigrants are criminals, drug and human traffickers, and rapists who are fleeing justice in their home countries.
Hagerty said “several sheriffs” told him that drug and human smuggling increased during Biden’s presidency.
In 2019, the Mexican navy seized a vessel from Shanghai, China, with approximately 2.5 tons of fentanyl bound for the United States.
The infamous Mexican cartels are in charge of distributing the drug.
During Donald Trump’s administration, the United States even conducted joint operations with various countries in Central America, the Caribbean, and South America to combat drug trafficking and effectively busted many operations.
Biden’s striking differential treatment
Hagerty also chided Biden for the absurd attitude in dealing with Americans and illegal aliens, something that will really make the Democratic president lose the hearts of the people completely.
“We’ve been expected to lock down our communities. We’ve been expected to shut our kids out of school, yet Biden just opened the border for these folks and let them move in,” Hagerty said.
Hagerty also pointed to the president’s poor decision to give ‘stimulus checks’ to these illegal aliens as incentive for them to continue coming to the country.
“The American public is waking up to what Biden is bringing forth to us. If we think about just the exposure to COVID [the CCP Virus] that’s coming across the border and how different the treatment is for someone who’s not a citizen versus the treatment that our own citizens and our own schoolchildren are going through, I think this is going to create a groundswell that’s going to force the Biden administration into action,” Hagerty predicted.
While the U.S. economy is still trying to recover from the effects of the pandemic, last week the House passed a bill granting amnesty to some 6.5 million illegal aliens already residing in the country.
The bill will be taken up in the Senate amid debate or the while Democrats’ intent on eliminating the filibuster, which requires a bill to pass with two-thirds of the total number of senators.
