Using the pandemic as an excuse, abortion-inducing drugs are to be made available via telemedicine and through the mail, as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is lifting restrictions on the drugs mifepristone and misoprostol.

Women will no longer be required to present themselves at a clinic and instead have the drugs delivered to their doorstep.

The U.S. regulator announced the news in a letter to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, which was involved in the legal battle to make the pills available without the need for women to show up at a clinic and have a doctor prescribe them, a requirement that the Trump administration had succeeded in reinstating.

FDA acting director Janet Woodcock said a review of recent studies conducted by the agency “does not appear to show an increase in serious safety problems” when women take the pill without first going to a health center and discussing the drug’s potential risks.

However, there are several reports of adverse effects such as internal bleeding, infection, and even death from abortion pills.

Recently the case of María del Valle González López, a 23-year-old Argentinian woman who died two days after taking the misoprostol pill prescribed in a hospital in the city of Mendoza, made the headlines.

In the United States, there are 24 deaths and 4000 adverse events registered. Still, due to lobbying by groups such as Planned Parenthood, it is estimated that the number of fatalities is much higher.

“The adverse effects were “from women experiencing hospitalization, hemorrhage, excruciating abdominal pain, and severe life-threatening infections after taking the abortion pill regimen,” according to Live Action Founder and President Lila Rose to Rose.

In a press release, Lila Rose said: “Because of today’s decision, women will be home alone delivering a dead child, unsure whether the volume of blood loss they see is ‘normal’ for the abortion procedure or them hemorrhaging and bleeding out.

“Unsure if the pain they feel is the ‘normal’ pain of the abortion procedure or pain from their ectopic pregnancy going undiagnosed and now threatening their life.”

Abortion with pills is harrowing

According to a Breitbart report, abortion with the pills involves two stages.

First, mifepristone is taken, which blocks progesterone’s action, which the mother’s body produces to nourish the pregnancy. When progesterone is blocked, blood and nutrition are cut off for the developing baby, which then dies inside the mother’s uterus.

The woman must then take misoprostol which causes contractions and bleeding to expel the baby from the mother’s uterus.

The end result is a baby that dies with much suffering, and a mother who in the process can suffer infections, and if the hemorrhaging is excessive, she can also die.

The FDA’s weak argument is that women should not ‘be exposed to COVID-19’ and be able to access these dangerous drugs from home.

Requirements change with the politicians in office

As the Daily Caller report noted, the FDA had approved in 2000 the use of the abortion drug mifepristone up to 10 weeks gestation. But the regulator explicitly warned that purchasers should not buy it over the Internet “because it would bypass important safeguards intended to protect their health….”

With the pro-abortion Biden-Harris duo in the White House, the FDA’ updated’ its previous requirements to allow online or telephone sales.

Perhaps the requirements change with the politicians in office, but the truth is unchanging, and the consequences of this decision could be fatal.
