This Wednesday, June 16, the White House rushed to quickly deny that Joe Biden nodded in response to a reporter’s question about whether he trusts Vladimir Putin during the Geneva summit, Breitbart reported.
During an eventful photo-op and press attention session, NBC News producer Elyse Perlmutter asked Joe Biden if he trusted the Russian leader.
According to reporter Ashley Parker, the president looked at her and nodded his head.
AP reporter Jonathan Lemire was also present at the time and said that while he asked Putin questions without receiving answers, he saw how Biden nodded when asked if he trusted the Russian president.
As expected, the explanation of the event from the White House press office was not long in coming.
In a tweet, White House communications director Kate Bedingfield explained that Biden nodded his head in acknowledgment to the press and that it was not in response to any particular question.
After the start of the meeting between the two leaders, White House press secretary Jen Psaki continued Bedingfield’s line and, in a press release, explained that during the chaotic moment, Biden did nod to the press in general and not to a particular question, according to Breitbart.
As reported by Daily Mail, during the photo-op, Biden referred to Russia as a great power instead of Barack’s one-time reference, calling it a “regional power.”
For his part, Putin thanked Biden for his initiative to have a meeting, told him that Russia-U.S. relations have some problems that warranted a meeting, and that he hoped it would be productive.
There were several facts to highlight from the meeting. For example, Biden carried cards with inscriptions in big letters as important notes to not forget or be attentive to some issues, which generated a lot of mockery in social networks.
Another event occurred in the press conference after the meeting when President Joe Biden makes a mistake and said “President Trump” instead of “President Putin.”
It should be noted that all these situations that we tell are no surprise to the general public, taking into account the moments to which Joe Biden has already accustomed us. Without going any further during the recent G7 summit, Jill Biden had to come to her husband’s rescue.
