At least six Philadelphia officers were shot in Philadelphia’s Nicetown-Tioga area on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 14, officials said. The officers were rushed to local hospitals with nonlife-threatening injuries, police representative Eric Gripp said.
Police were first called to the scene at North 15th street at around 4:30 p.m. for narcotics activity, Philadelphia Police Capt. Sekou Kinebrew told CBS Philadelphia.

Gripp said the gun battle between police and the suspect was still active and urged residents to avoid the area.
Police have entered the building where the suspect is still inside, CBS Philadelphia reported.
The nearby campus for Temple University’s Health Sciences Center has been placed on lockdown as the situation unfolds.
The university tweeted, “Seek shelter. Secure doors. Be silent. Be still. Police are responding.”
