The Associated Press published a fact-check article on Michelle Obama’s speech at the Democratic National Convention.
She had condemned Trump for using “cages” to detain immigrant children at the U.S.–Mexico border without mentioning that those “cages” were actually built and used first by her husband’s administration, Fox News reported.
AP noted that the former first lady criticized President Trump for using “cages” like never before to detain illegal immigrant children separated from their parents at the border, a fact that Democrats, with the help of the mainstream media, used to attack President Trump’s immigration policy.
Michelle said that Americans “watch in horror as children are torn from their families and thrown into cages.”
“Trump used facilities that were built during the Obama-Biden administration to house children at the border,” AP said in its report. These facilities are made of a wire fence that forms one room linked to the next, and immigrants are separated according to age and gender.
At the peak of the media and Democratic campaign to criticize the president for his stance against illegal immigration, Time magazine published a photo taken in 2104 and manipulated it to show President Trump’s toughness with a caged child.
Trump suspended the regulation that allowed for the separation of children at the border with Mexico in June 2018, according to a Fox News article.
Michelle Obama was not the only one who took the opportunity to slam the president.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo also blamed the federal government for its response to the pandemic, diverting attention from the criticism he has received for sending people infected with the CCP Virus to nursing homes. His action resulted in infecting and killing an estimated 13,000 older people there, reported New York Post on Tuesday, Aug. 17.
