After implying that the phrase “surge” at the border is used to describe refugees as “insurgents,” AOC went on to say that someone who uses the term to support the notion of a border “invasion” is advocating white supremacy.

“And that’s a problem because this is not a surge, these are children, and they are not insurgents, and we are not being invaded, which by the way is a white supremacist idea-philosophy, the idea that if another is coming in the population that this is an invasion of who we are,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said.

Ocasio-Cortez took issue with the word “surge” being used to describe the border crisis, arguing it supports a “militaristic frame” that is “a white supremacist idea.”

AOC, a far-left member of the “Squad,” made the remarks during an Instagram Live session with her fans on Tuesday night, suggesting that someone using the word to support the notion of a border “invasion” is advocating white supremacy.

“They wanna say, ‘But what about the surge?’” Ocasio-Cortez said. “Well, first of all, just gut check, stop. Anyone who’s using the term ‘surge’ around you consciously is trying to invoke a militaristic frame.” the congresswoman emphasized.

The argument exemplifies the socialist Democrat’s failure to comprehend the fact that some terms have various meanings. Transforming the word surge into a racist remark is a typical Democrat Party ploy by a member who wants to find a way to portray political opponents as racists at any opportunity.

Critics were quick to point out Ocasio-Cortez’s inability to understand the various definitions of words she managed to connect.

RealClearPolitics President Tom Bevan said, “Not knowing the difference between the meaning of ‘surge’ and ‘insurgent’—and then using it as a talking point about white supremacy—is peak AOC.”

Townhall senior writer Julio Rosas tweeted, “I’ve been using the term ‘surge’ because there’s a higher than usual amount of people illegally crossing into the U.S. I’ve seen it with my own eyes on a nightly basis; for the past week.”
