An Anderson woman who was on life support after being shot in the head more than a week ago while pregnant with twins, has died.

Anderson Police Department Chief Tony Waters said 29-year-old Alexis Wasson died on Saturday, Aug. 10.

The shooting happened around 3 a.m. on Aug. 2 in the 4200 block of Mellen Drive in Anderson, Indiana.

Wasson was 21 weeks along when she was allegedly shot by her boyfriend Skye’lar De’andre White in the back of the head at her home.

Both of her unborn twins died this past week, according to court documents.

White, 29, is being held without bond in the Madison County Jail. He is charged with murder and two counts of feticide.

According to court records, White claimed the deadly shooting was all an accident, but he never called 911 for help.

Madison County prosecutor Rodney Cummings says after the shooting, White drove the victim to his mother’s home on East 27th Street instead of driving her directly to the hospital.

White’s mother told police her son banged on her front door and said the gun was in the bed, went off by accident and only grazed Wasson’s head.

Police say White’s mother then drove Wasson to the hospital while White took off on foot.

“His behavior seems very inconsistent with what would be an accidental shooting,” said prosecutor Cummings. “He says it’s an accident and grazing wound. That’s inconsistent with the evidence so far.”

Searching the shooting scene police found a spent 9mm shell casing behind the headboard but they have not recovered the gun.

With an enhancement, the prosecutor says the charges against White carry a maximum punishment of 117 years behind bars.

White will appear in court again on Aug. 21.
