Authorities said two toddlers, who were taken from their babysitter in Copiah County, Mississippi, on Wednesday evening, Oct. 16, have been found safe.
Copiah County Undersheriff Derrick Cubit said the children’s mother, Teanna Dixon, 28, and her boyfriend, Derek Young, 29, kidnapped them from their great grandmother’s home at gunpoint, WBRC reported.
The Amber Alert for the two children was canceled after both were found safe at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17.
“Both children have been located and are safe,” the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) said in a Facebook post.
MBI had previously reported that 3-year-old Dior Wade and 1-year-old Zarie Wade had disappeared.
Dior was described as a 3-foot tall girl with brown eyes and brown hair. She was last seen wearing a black shirt, leopard print pants, and black boots.
Zaire was described as a 2-foot tall boy with brown eyes and hair with twisted strands. He was last seen wearing camo pants, a turquoise shirt, and brown shoes.
Dixon and Young could be traveling with the toddlers in a silver 2016 Lincoln MKZ with Georgia plates reading, “RTI 3239.”
The biological father has full custody of the toddlers and the mother is believed to live in Georgia. Police believe that is possibly where they’re headed.
