During a press conference Thursday, Aug. 13, President Donald Trump accused Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden of “politicizing the pandemic,” after he urged every citizen in the country to wear a mask for the next few months to stop the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) Virus outbreak.

“Today, we saw Joe Biden continue to politicize a pandemic and to show his appalling lack of respect for the American people,” Trump said. Then he added, “That’s what it is. At every turn, Biden has been wrong about the virus, ignoring the scientific evidence and putting left-wing politics before facts and evidence.”

President Trump also argued that the current Democratic candidate opposed restricting travel to and from China during the first weeks of the CCP Virus outbreak. “Sleepy Joe opposed both China and Europe travel bans. He opposed the China travel ban that I instituted very early and the Europe ban I instituted quite early,” Trump said.

According to the Washington Examiner, Trump added that Biden also supported national policies aimed at maintaining blockages that cripple the economy beyond the recommendations of experts.

He criticized the national mandate for the use of masks and stressed that their use should be voluntary while social distancing is not possible.

“If the president has the unilateral power to order every single citizen to cover their face in nearly all instances, what other powers does he have?” Trump said, referring to what would occur if Biden’s presidency bid was realized. “That’s why he refused, Biden, to take questions. He couldn’t answer any of them,” he added.

As Fox News pointed out, President Trump’s comments came hours after Biden appeared with fellow Democratic vice presidential hopeful Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) before a virtual fundraiser in Wilmington, Delaware, where he called for a nationwide mask mandate.

Trump accused Biden of pushing for mandatory masks, arguing that such a decision would violate American freedoms.

“All Americans must have their freedoms. I have great confidence in the American people and their governors,” he said.

Biden argued that he was not asking for a federal policy requiring the wearing of masks, saying he was only asking that state governors do so.

President Trump said the Democrats’ solution is to “lock all Americans in their basements for months and months.”
