As the process to remove President Donald Trump advances, a number of inconsistencies are becoming evident and have not gone unnoticed by political analysts and the media.
In an opinion column published Thursday in the Washington Examiner, Trump 2020 Advisory Board member Jenna Ellis Rives points especially to Adam Schiff’s main accusations against President Trump, which turned out to be false.
In fact, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and the main promoter of the impeachment trial against the president, “revealed that he’s unfit to lead legitimate impeachment proceedings in the very first moments of the first public hearing his committee conducted,” Rives said.
“His undisguised personal animus against President Trump and partisan disdain for his Republican colleagues make it clear that he’s incapable of conducting an investigation aimed at discovering the truth,” adds Rives, a constitutional lawyer and author of the book The Legal Basis for a Moral Constitution.
It should be remembered that Schiff was denounced last month by Republican Jon Hollis because he tried to ‘dirty’ president Trump by using his office in the House of Representatives to obtain private information to damage the president’s image. The alleged material was to be provided by comedians posing as fake members of the Russian Kremlin.
The call where the jokers offered him the alleged material incriminating President Trump was recorded on tape.
But the fact that exposed Schiff’s false accusations was his stubborn accusation—for months—about the alleged collusion between Trump’s campaign team and the Russian government.
Schiff was exposed after the Mueller Report was published where it was demonstrated that there was no collusion with the Kremlin.
Irregularities in President Trump’s impeachment
The impeachment inquiry brought by the Democratic opposition against President Trump left Schiff as leader of the process.
President Trump has been accused by Democratic lawmakers, who claim that he would have called Ukraine’s president to offer economic aid in exchange for the Ukrainian government investigating former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, who is his political rival in the 2020 elections.
The accusation was based on an anonymous whistleblower who would be linked to the CIA.
However, the process that the Democrats have set in motion to try to remove the president presents irregularities that call into question its validity and constitutionality.
Rives stressed that Schiff initially said, “We have not spoken directly with the complainant. ” Later, however, the chairman of the Intelligence Committee “was forced to acknowledge that his staff had, in fact, coordinated with the so-called whistleblower before the complaint that led to the current impeachment farce.”
At the beginning of the so-called Ukraine Case, Schiff appeared in the mainstream media citing the alleged transcript of the call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy.
However, the White House emphatically denied the accusations made against the president and published the actual transcripts of the talks between President Donald Trump and Zelensky.
The conversation shows that President Trump did not pressure or offer any kind of financial retribution to Ukraine to investigate the son of Joe Biden, who was involved in a case of corruption of the main gas company in the European country.
Indeed, Schiff’s quotes hardly resembled the transcript published by the White House, Rives recalled in the Washington Examiner.
Then public hearings began in the House. In his opening statement, Schiff noted that the Trump administration’s decision to put the transcript of the call on a top-secret server was an “extraordinary step. ” But President Barack Obama’s national security adviser, Susan Rice, recently admitted that the Obama administration sometimes did the same with transcripts of Obama’s talks with foreign heads of state.
“Moreover, it’s hardly ‘extraordinary’ that Trump would carefully safeguard the sensitive contents of his calls with foreign leaders, considering that his enemies leaked similar transcripts just a few months into his presidency,” Rives added.
“Once the dust kicked up by his deceitful antics finally settles, Schiff should be held accountable, by his colleagues and his constituents alike, for subjecting the country to such unnecessary turmoil,” she concluded.
