Acting Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Richard Grenell on Monday, April 27, slammed The Washington Post for purposely publishing information its reporters were told was incorrect.

Citing “current and former U.S. officials,” the Post this week claimed that the intelligence community in January and February gave President Donald Trump warning about the CCP Virus in more than a dozen classified briefings but he “downplayed” it.

“The repeated warnings were conveyed in issues of the President’s Daily Brief, a sensitive report that is produced before dawn each day and designed to call the president’s attention to the most significant global developments and security threats,” wrote The Washington Post.

“But the alarms appear to have failed to register with the president, who routinely skips reading the PDB and has at times shown little patience for even the oral summary he takes two or three times per week, according to the officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss classified material,” it added.

Grenell shot down the report, saying, “This isn’t true. And we told you this before you wrote. And you put the DNI denial of your premise in paragraph 9.”

The paragraph in particular quoted the DNI’s statement, “The detail of this is not true.”

Grenell also singled out Vanity Fair, which repeated the “false Washington Post narrative.”

Earlier this month, the head of the Defense Intelligence Agency’s (DIA) National Center for Medical Intelligence (NCMI) Col. R. Shane Day also issued a rare public statement dismissing ABC News reporting that alleged, “Concerns about what is now known to be the novel coronavirus pandemic were detailed in a November intelligence report” by the NCMI.

“As a matter of practice, the National Center for Medical Intelligence does not comment publicly on specific intelligence matters,” Day said. “However, in the interest of transparency during this current public health crisis, we can confirm that media reporting about the existence/release of a National Center for Medical Intelligence Coronavirus-related product/assessment in November of 2019 is not correct. No such NCMI product exists.”

President Trump also blasted mainstream media over its false reporting on the pandemic, calling them “Lamestream Media.”

“There has never been, in the history of our Country, a more vicious or hostile Lamestream Media than there is right now, even in the midst of a National Emergency, the Invisible Enemy!” he tweeted.
