American communities are being revitalized under the Trump administration, and the president was in North Carolina on Monday, Aug. 24, supporting an initiative that has been called “a miracle program.”

After his surprise visit to the Republican National Convention (RNC), the president headed to a Farmers to Families Food Box site in Mills River for a tour and voiced support for the state’s farmers.

More than 100 million meals have been provided under the program, which amounts to more than 1 billion pounds of food delivered, reported The White House.

The Flavor 1st Growers and Packers is a farmer-owned repacking and distribution facility that partners with Baptists on Mission to build the Farmers to Families Food Boxes. They are part of the $3 billion Coronavirus Food Assistance Program that started in April.

“This program is a miracle. It works for everybody,” said Zach Derstine, the president of a Pennsylvania food distribution company. Derstine said the food box program saved his company during the global CCP Virus pandemic.

Ivanka Trump has been a strong supporter of the food box program, and she accompanied the president to Mills River. “With this $1 billion addition, we’re going to keep it going and we’re going to keep feeding those in need until this pandemic passes,” she told the crowd, reports ABC11.

“70 MILLION boxes of fresh produce have been delivered from our local family farms to those who are vulnerable across the country, while at the exact same time, saving countless jobs,” said Ivanka, explaining the enormous success of the program.

“When the China virus struck our nation, many farmers had no place to send their crops or livestock. At the same time, families across the country were in need of groceries. They wanted to eat well,” President Trump told the crowd of workers and others.

“That’s why we launched the Farmers to Families Food Box program. Through this program, the Department of Agriculture is purchasing food from farmers, then local distributors pack and deliver the boxes. And families in need get it,” he added.

President Trump announced another $1 billion is being added to the program.

“Each time you deliver a food box to a family, you show them that, in this country, no one is forgotten,” said the president.
