All Americans are called upon to close ranks in defense of free speech, under siege by progressive media and elites calling for the elimination of those who disagree with them.
“That is why I’m calling on all Americans—inside government and out, in their professional and personal lives—to demonstrate civility in discourse, counter negative ideas with more positive speech, and persuade others that they are wrong rather than seeking to silence them,” proposed candidate for Virginia Lt. Gov. Lance Allen (R) in a Feb. 19 Daily Caller article.
Allen featured messages from Washington Post reporters, CNN journalists, and a former CIA director calling for a crackdown on those who stray from its speech.
Even the same Subcommittee on Communications and Technology of the House will present on Capitol Hill an event on “disinformation and extremism in the media” on Feb. 24.
Thus, one such message was written by columnist Max Boot in the Washington Post, saying, “Just as we do with foreign terrorist groups, so with domestic terrorists: We need to shut down the influencers who radicalize people and set them on the path toward violence and sedition.”
He apparently places “influencers” on par with terrorists from Al-Qaeda, Hezbollah, or other armed groups who have taken innocent American lives, just because they think differently. And it is to be assumed that Boot is suggesting that they be given the same penalties as criminals.
For Boot even Fox News is one of his targets to pursue, referring, “Cable companies like Comcast and Charter Spectrum, which carry Fox News and provide much of their revenue in the form of user fees, need to step in and kick Fox News out.”
In another of his quotes Allen points to CNN’s Oliver Darcy comment, “Big Tech takes a lot of heat for distributing disinformation to millions. But what about TV carriers?”
And Darcy goes on to say, “Why do they escape scrutiny for beaming into millions of homes propagandists [sic] who recklessly use their platforms to spread lies and conspiracy theories?”
Former CIA Director John Brennan noted that the Biden administration “moving in laser-like fashion to try to uncover as much as they can about what looks very similar to insurgency movements that we’ve seen overseas.”
He also classifies them as, “together an unholy alliance, frequently, of religious extremists, authoritarians, fascists, bigots, racists, nativists—even libertarians.”
Finally, Allen calls for restoring the spirit of the Constitution’s First Amendment, in the style of Supreme Court Justices William Brennan and Antonin Scalia, who uphold ” the profoundly American ideal of absolute free speech that was once shared by originalists and living constitutionalists alike.”
Allen echoes the advances of the Democrats in their attempts to censor and persecute supporters of the former president, Donald Trump, as already perceived by analysts.
As one of their actions, the Democrats introduced a controversial bill that apparently threatens to replace civil liberties, called the Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act of 2021 (DTPA).
For author Robert Wheeler, “The DTPA is essentially the criminalization of speech, expression and thought. It takes the cancellation culture a step further and virtually outlaws unpopular opinions,” he wrote on Jan. 27 on The Organic Prepper website.
He added, “This law will empower intelligence services, law enforcement, and even the military wings of the U.S. establishment to crack down on people who adhere to certain belief systems and ideologies.”
The apparent “hunt for domestic terrorists,” already seems to have been set in motion, given that the FBI raided homes of Trump supporters, without a clear reason, because they did not even participate in the Jan. 6 demonstration, which could have been a cause.
