“I heard a bang bang bang … like a dead”—One of the notable bullets was shot into a home on the east side of Cleveland, Ohio,  and made its way into a sleeping child’s head.

“This is something I’ll never forget. Any time you hurt one of the babies. … This is something I can’t tolerate,” an Ohio citizen said.

The tragedy occurred at around 1 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, the 6-year-old girl was sleeping when shots were fired into her home at the 1300 block of East 171st Street. 

Officers administered first aid until EMS arrived. The child was taken to the hospital for treatment but died later. The girl’s name wasn’t immediately released.

The police statement said officers were told that a car was seen driving away from the scene, but no one could provide a detailed description of the vehicle.

Police have not said if any arrests have been made or commented on any other circumstances of the shooting in the South-Collinwood neighborhood.
