Five people are dead and a sixth person was critically burned after a pickup truck crashed into a tree and burst into flames early Monday morning in north Fort Worth, Texas.

According to police, the accident happened just before 2 a.m. on Northside Drive near the North Freeway and involved a single vehicle.

The pickup truck reportedly went off the road for an unknown reason and into a wooded area. It then hit a tree and caught fire, killing all five occupants of the vehicle. Their names have not yet been released.

There was a homeless man sleeping in a tent next to the tree who was seriously burned, police said. The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police are still investigating what caused the crash. They say speed was likely a factor.
