A 24-year-old man in Gahanna, Ohio, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2019, after being electrocuted by a live power line while trimming trees. WBNS reported.

At around 9:50 a.m. the Gahanna Division of Police and Mifflin Township Fire responded to a 911 call of a reported electrocution.

The man was in a bucket lift for a tree service when he made contact with a live AEP power line. He sustained fatal injuries as a result, Gahanna police said.

AEP quickly cut power to the area impacting traffic signals, Jefferson Elementary School, and the Old Gahanna section of the city.

As of 11:30 a.m., there was no estimate on when power would be restored.

Mifflin Township Fire Department and Gahanna police units have several streets blocked in the area.

The incident continues under investigation. Police have not released the man’s identity, pending notification of next of kin.
