Louisville Metro Police arrested a 23-year-old suspect accused of shooting and killing his father with a crossbow Thursday afternoon, Oct. 17, at his home in the 7600 block of Petty Jay Court, Louisville, Kentucky, after attacking his sister with a frying pan.

Police were called just after 1 p.m. to a home in a residential neighborhood between Hurstbourne Parkway and Breckenridge Lane for reports of a domestic disturbance. 

When they arrived police found a man dead and a woman injured. She was taken to the University of Louisville Hospital. Her condition is unknown.

Officers said Gerald Beavers III had hit his sister with a frying pan and then shot his father with a crossbow. He ran away in a 2002 red Honda Civic and was believed to be headed for North Carolina.

Beavers was arrested late Thursday afternoon after police spent several hours looking for him, according to WDRB.

Police said what prompted the situation is unknown.
