According to officials with Precinct 8, hundreds of pounds of marijuana and dozens of pounds of THC candies were discovered along with four weapons during a traffic stop in southeastern Harris County on Monday.

A clerk and his K-9 Evo ran a traffic stop on a speeding car around 5:30 p.m., authorities said.

He smelled the smell of marijuana coming from inside the car when the officer approached the car, officials said.

The driver refused to allow the deputy to search the car, but Evo warned about the existence of narcotics in a “free air sniff” around the outside of the car, deputy representatives said.

A likely cause search was launched and, according to police, 14 pounds of marijuana, THC candies and a loaded pistol were discovered.

Another car used to transport drugs was disclosed by continued inquiry.

According to deputies, illegal contraband was discovered in the case:

228 pounds of marijuana
70 pounds of THC gummies
Four guns
$42,625 in cash
