A 2-year-old Detroit girl died tragically Monday afternoon, Sept. 16, after a car’s power window closed on her head as her father was sleeping just feet away from her.
Relatives of Kierre Allen, 2, said the incident took place in front of their family’s home on Detroit’s west side.
The girl was in a 2005 Mazda 3 with her father, and the vehicle was parked in the driveway, said relatives.
The father took a nap and woke up two hours later to find the 2-year-old girl had accidentally closed the window on her head.
Relatives said it appeared the power window was activated as Allen was partially out of it when it closed.
The child’s uncle rushed her to Sinai Grace Hospital while the father attempted CPR in the back seat. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Detroit police were investigating, and took Kierre’s father into custody on unrelated warrants.
