Two Southern California men were arrested on suspicion of killing a West Covina man, a firefighter who has been missing since last week, authorities said.
The West Covina Police Department identified them as Elijah Thomas Rouse, 18, and Shaun Cardarelli, 37.
West Covina police are trying to confirm whether the body found last week in Upland is that of 28-year-old John Aguila.
His family said that Aguila, a part-time firefighter with the Bureau of Land Management, hasn’t been seen since he left his girlfriend’s home in La Puente about 4:30 p.m. last Thursday, Aug. 22.

Investigators then learned that Aguila’s Honda Civic was found a day later with gloves and bloody clothing in the trunk.
Police said surveillance video has a man, not Aguila, driving the car into a San Dimas neighborhood and leaving it behind and walking away.
Rouse and Cararelli are each being held on $1 million bail.
Police were also unable to identify whether either suspect is the man seen in the surveillance video.
Unclear is what relationship there was between the suspects and the victim. Police are still looking for a motive.
