Two people died on Wednesday morning, Oct. 23, after their car fell from the fourth floor of a parking garage in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana.

First responders were called to the scene at Market Square Center Garage before 10 a.m., FOX59 News reported.

According to the Indianapolis Fire Department (IFD), the two adults were killed after the black 2013 Lincoln SUV drove off the garage and landed, overturned, in an alley.

IFD shared photos and videos of the scene, showing the mangled car and blown-out wall of the parking garage.

The victims were a man and a woman, but it’s unclear how the victims were related to one another. Their identities have not been released, according to WTHR.

“This is a heavily walked area, this alleyway. Of course, it was right before the lunch hour, so it wasn’t quite populated as heavily as it could be,” Battalion Chief Rita Reith with IFD, said. “So, we’re just very lucky that there was nobody down below.”

Code Enforcement has been called to check the structural integrity of the parking garage. Reith said it appeared the parking garage was stable aside from the area the vehicle went through.

The police department is still investigating the cause of the crash.
