Prosecutors have rested in the trial of a Maine man charged with raping and killing a childhood friend in Bar Harbor.

Jurors on Thursday watched a surveillance video that showed 22-year-old Jalique Keene carrying Mikaela Conley’s body across an elementary school playground on the morning of June 1, 2018.

Friends and family of the 19-year-old victim watched the video on courtroom monitors. The trial continues Friday.

The defense contends the video and DNA evidence doesn’t prove Keene is guilty of murder and gross sexual assault.

Law enforcement officials say Keene raped, beat and strangled his 19-year-old former high school classmate within 18 hours of his return from Europe, where he’d been playing American-style football.

Conley gave Keene and two other people a ride home from Boston Logan International Airport.
