HAYFIELD — Hayfield grabbed control early and cruised to a 40-12 Mid-Southeast District, East Sub-District football win over Kingsland on Wednesday.

The Vikings (3-6 overall) scored three times in the first quarter, all of the touchdowns coming on Brady Nelson passes. He hit Patrick Towey for a 21-yard score, Jake Risius for a 16-yarder and then Towey again for an 11-yarder.

For the game, Nelson had six TD strikes, Towey collecting three of them. Nelson threw for 139 yards. Teammate Carter Kyllo had 139 yards rushing on 19 carries.

The Hayfield defense limited Kingsland to 141 yards of offense. Knights quarterback William Jahn was 6-for-11 for 100 yards and a touchdown.

Kingsland slipped to 1-7.
