On Thursday, April 8, Fox News’ host Tucker Carlson asked whether Hunter Biden, who allegedly lied about buying a handgun in 2018 while on a cocaine spree, will be arrested by David Chipman, President Joe Biden’s new director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).
During recent remarks in which he forgot the ATF’s acronym twice, Biden urged Congress to pass broader gun-control legislation and announced a series of executive actions to beef up “red flag” laws and address “ghost guns.”
In a speech at the White House on Thursday, Biden tapped anti-gun activist and former ATF agent David Chipman to head the agency. Biden seems to have a lot of faith in Chipman.
“The Bureau of Alcoball – Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the key agency enforcing gun laws, has had a permanent director since 2015,” Biden said Thursday. “Today, I am proud to nominate David Chipman to serve as the director of the AFT.”
“David knows the AFT well,” Biden added.
According to Carlson, Chipman has suggested that people who fail background checks should be arrested. He said Chipman once wrote in a Reddit post: “While at ATF, I conducted studies involving people who failed background checks to determine how many later committed crimes with a gun – many did.”
“This is a perfect opportunity to arrest people before committing crimes rather than responding after the fact,” Chipman reportedly added in that post.
“Joe Biden just appointed a guy who thinks people who lie on federal firearms background checks should go to prison,” Carlson said.
Carlson went after the anti-gun ATF head for what he inferred would be hypocrisy if Chipman were to decide against pursuing Hunter over that handgun.
According to Fox News’s information, Hunter lied about his drug use when filling out the ATF Form 4473.
“Will he face punishment for committing a crime – if indeed he did? Carlson asked. “We’ve seen the form. So, the question is, will David Chipman arrest the president’s son? And if he doesn’t arrest the president’s son, the question is: How exactly are you obligated to follow these rules?”
“Hunter Biden purchased a handgun illegally, he lied on a federal background check ..”

The claims about Hunter Biden illegally purchasing a gun stem from a Politico story published last month that says the president’s son, 51, lied about his drug addiction on a form to buy a gun in 2018.
The outlet reported: “The owner, Ron Palmieri, later turned over the papers to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, which oversees federal gun laws.”
Politico obtained a copy of the Firearms Transaction Record and a receipt for the gun, all dated October 12, 2018.
“Hunter responded ‘no’ to a question on the transaction record that asks, ‘Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?’ according to the paper.
Politico also mentioned that Hunter was discharged from the Navy Reserve five years earlier after testing positive for cocaine. He and his family members have discussed his past substance abuse.
Hunter, as far as anybody can say, cheated on a background check to buy a handgun. That is a significant criminal offense for which Biden’s current ATF director claims people should be sentenced and sent to jail.
According to numerous sources, Biden’s eldest son has had the privilege of making government departments shield him—even from himself.
