Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson once again brought to light in his program the case of Ilhan Omar—the Democratic congresswoman of the self-proclaimed “squad”—regarding her being married to her own biological brother, which President Trump also mentioned a few days ago.
Carlson revealed details of a new report by investigative journalist David Steinberg, who has been investigating allegations surrounding Omar’s marital history.
Steinberg has closely followed Ilhan Omar’s background for years since she entered public life, interviewing members of the Somali immigrant community in Minnesota.
“David Steinberg spent a decade as PJ Media’s New York editor,” Carlson said.
“Just this morning, Steinberg released a piece on Power Line. In that piece, he repeats the claim that Omar married her biological brother,” he added.
Carlson said that, according to the investigator, in 1995 Ilhan Omar entered the United States as a fraudulent member of the Omar family—who obtained asylum in the United States—and that this is not her real family, but that she used a false name, as did other members of her biological family.
He also added that Ilhan Omar’s genetic family was separated at this time and her three siblings were able to obtain asylum in the United Kingdom using their real names.
Steinberg found out that Ilhan Omar’s brother was one of those three brothers and that she later legally married this man—her biological brother—from 2009 to 2017, in order to evade immigration laws.
“It’s a shocking claim, so far it is unproven,” Carlson said.
Minnesota’s largest newspaper, the Star Tribune, is also following the case but cannot confirm or refute the claims because Omar is not cooperating.
Last month, the newspaper noted that Omar refused even to provide the full names of her immediate family. She also refused to put her tax and immigration records on file and even Omar’s relatives have remained silent about her marriage.
On Wednesday, President Trump spoke briefly about the accusations surrounding Omar, saying: “There’s a lot of talk about the fact that she was married to her brother. I know nothing about it. I hear she was married to her brother… I’m sure that somebody would be looking at that.”

The Washington Examiner reported a slightly different aspect of the story last month: Dozens of official documents suggest that Rep. Ilhan Omar lived with her current husband, Ahmed Abdisalan Hirsi, throughout her legal marriage to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, which contradicts the story she tells to explain her marriages.
Accusations about Omar’s marital history reappeared last month after a Minnesota campaign financial investigation found that Omar “filed taxes in 2014 and 2015 with her current husband, Ahmed Hirsi, while she was still legally married to but separated from Elmi,” the Star Tribune added.
President Trump vs. ‘The Squad’
On July 21, President Donald Trump renewed his criticism of the four progressive Democratic congresswomen, accusing them of not being able to love the country and suggesting that they “apologize to the United States.”
“I don’t believe the four congresswomen are capable of loving our country. They should apologize to America (and Israel) for the horrible (hateful) things they have said,” President Trump wrote on Twitter.
The president’s message is the most recent one in a “war of words” with socialist congresswomen Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Ayana Pressley.
