President Trump on Thursday urged Senate Democratic lawmakers to ease the shutdown fight over border security spending.
The President insisted that most of the governmental workers not being paid as a result of the shutdown are Democrats, suggesting that Democrats are only hurting their own constituents.
“Have the Democrats finally realized that we desperately need Border Security and a Wall on the Southern Border. Need to stop Drugs, Human Trafficking,Gang Members & Criminals from coming into our Country,” Mr. Trump tweeted. ““Do the Dems realize that most of the people not getting paid are Democrats?”

He returned to Washington after his first visit to troops in an active war zone and the government shutdown entered its sixth day Thursday.
Trump said during his Iraq visit that the shutdown would last as long as it takes to get the funding he wants for the wall and additional border security measures.
About 25 percent of the government is closed and roughly 800,000 federal employees are working without pay or have been furloughed since Saturday after Congress failed to pass a spending plan.
