Yang Jiechi, director of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission of the Chinese Communist Party, warned in a speech on Feb. 2 that the new Biden administration must yield to several demands of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to get relations between the two countries back on the “right track.”

At a virtual event organized by the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations, the senior Chinese diplomat warned Biden, “The United States should stop interference in the affairs of Hong Kong, Tibet, and Xinjiang” issues that “constitute a red line that must not be crossed. Any trespassing would end up undermining China-U.S. relations and the United States’ own interests.”

Yang’s statements are the first official warnings from the CCP to the new Biden administration, which despite recent statements by Secretary of State Antony Blinken where he criticized the CCP’s crackdown in Hong Kong and lack of transparency in handling the pandemic, is expected to take a much lighter stance than that adopted by former President Trump.

“For the past few years, the Trump administration adopted misguided policies against China [the CCP], plunging the relationship into its most difficult period since the establishment of diplomatic ties,” Yang said.

Among Trump’s “misguided” policies, Yang cited the closure of Confucius Institutes, restrictions on Chinese state media, and “suppression” of Chinese students.

Confucius Institutes, Chinese state media and “student” spies

In August 2020 and February 2021, then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo designated the Confucius Institutes and several Chinese media outlets including China Daily and Xinhua, respectively as “foreign missions.”

The foreign mission designation forced these media outlets and faux cultural programs to report their financial movements to the U.S. government and limited the number of people on staff.

“Over the last decade, the authoritarian government of the People’s Republic of China has sent curriculum and PRC-trained teachers into hundreds of U.S. K-12 schools through a program called Confucius Classrooms. Styled as a language and culture program, Confucius Classrooms are in reality an important element of the PRC’s global influence campaign, now reaching tens of thousands of U.S. schoolchildren every day,” said Pompeo.

Chinese state media is used by the CCP to broadcast Communist propaganda and “launder” the Party’s image in the West. Many of these media outlets invest millions of dollars to publish their editorials in American newspapers, a surreptitious way of brainwashing Americans.

At the same time the CCP uses student exchange programs to infiltrate spies disguised as students or professors into American institutions in order to steal intellectual property.

The Biden administration is up against the righteous legacy of Trump:

  • He demolished the false image as a ‘world economic power’ that the Chinese communist regime acquired through its practices of flooding markets with trinkets made with slave labor and stolen intellectual property;
  • Exposed its grotesque crimes against humanity against the Uighurs in Xinjiang and the forced organ harvesting of Falun Dafa practitioners;
  • Gathered allies around the world who are now demanding justice for the CCP’s mishandling of the pandemic.

The Biden family’s corrupt ties to the CCP have been widely exposed over the past four years casting serious doubts that this administration can really put a stop to the Chinese Communist Party’s evil.
