Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.) on Friday, July 10, said she has doubts on recent poll results that show presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden leading President Donald Trump.

“I don’t believe it,” Slotkin, who defeated GOP incumbent in 2018 in a district Republicans had controlled for all of the 21st century, told Politico, reported Fox News.

“Listen, if anyone tells me they can accurately predict what major events are coming in the remainder of 2020, I’ll give them a thousand dollars. I mean, this has been the year of black swans. … I don’t for one minute think this [presidential] race is safe in anyone’s column. I’ve been literally begging people to ignore those polls. They are a snapshot in time. And if 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that we have no idea what’s coming next,” she said.

Biden is leading President Trump by more than 9 points nationally, according to a Real Clear Politics average of recent polls. Additionally, a poll form the New York Times and Sienna College showed the president trailing Biden in six key battleground states he won in 2016, including Florida, Michigan, Arizona, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

Slotkin said she had made an unusual move by hiring a pollster who “screwed up in 2016” to help her run for her congressional seat.

“He told me that they fundamentally undercounted the Trump vote; that the Trump voter is not a voter in every single election, that they come out for Trump, so they’re hard to count,” Slotkin said, referring to her pollster.

“On a survey, if someone says, ‘I’m not sure I’m going to vote,’ you don’t usually continue the conversation. And some of them didn’t have any desire to be on those poll calls; they didn’t have the 20 minutes to talk to somebody. They didn’t want to do it. And so, they were fundamentally undercounted,” she added.

Claims of Biden’s lead in polls came amid the CCP Virus (coronavirus) pandemic and nationwide protests over police brutality and racial inequality in the wake of George Floyd’s death. However, President Trump holds sizable advantages over Biden in many polls on both economic issues and general enthusiasm of supporters. The president has predicted that he will have a “big win” in November due to a “silent majority.”

“THE VAST SILENT MAJORITY IS ALIVE AND WELL!!! We will win this Election big. Nobody wants a Low IQ person in charge of our Country, and Sleepy Joe is definitely a Low IQ person!,” President Trump tweeted.
