The Daily Caller News Foundation conducted an extensive investigation and published a review on Aug. 10 of some left-leaning district attorneys who publicly said they would take a “soft” stance on certain types of crime and as a result crime in those districts skyrocketed.

A common factor, although not in all cases, is that these prosecutors received the funds necessary to win elections in their districts from PAC (Political Action Committee), a leftist political organization of George Soros. The New York Times said Soros was a pioneer in a “push to overhaul prosecutors’ offices” around the country.

This are the examples investigated by the Daily Caller.

Kimberly Foxx

Kim Foxx of Cook County, which includes Chicago, known for the Jussie Smollet case, a black actor who falsely reported being attacked by two Trump supporters. His case received significant national coverage in the mainstream media, but after police investigated, it was discovered that it was a premeditated hoax. He was still acquitted by the Foxx.

Foxx was the only candidate the PAC (Political Action Committee) supported in the 2016 Illinois state elections. According to election records, the PAC donated a total of $400,000.

Foxx announced that she would not prosecute thieves who stole less than $1,000 and who had fewer than 10 prior convictions.

In December 2019, ABC News published a report where Chicago store owners describe how thieves enter, fill up with merchandise, and walk away, as a result of the prosecutor’s policies, because the thieves know they will not go to jail.

An article in the Chicago Tribune revealed that the Foxx dropped all charges against 30% of the defendants, while another report found a 54% increase in abandoned and dismissed cases since Foxx took office in 2017.

When protests over the death of George Floyd began, Kim announced that she would not prosecute protesters for minor offenses, such as violating the curfew or disorderly misconduct.

Despite criticism of the Smollet case, Kimberly won the primary this year, again with the financial support of Soros who donated some $417,000.

Rachel Rollins

Rachel Collins is district attorney for Suffolk County, Massachusetts, which includes the city of Boston. She ran her political campaign with a list of 15 crimes she would not prosecute. The list includes trespassing, theft of less than $250, occupying a vacant house, willful destruction of property, possession of drugs with intent to distribute. 

The Daily Caller found no connection between Soros and Rollins, but Rollins did receive funding with the help of leftist activist Shaun King known for calling to tear down status of the white European Jesus.

Larry Krasner

Larry Krasner, Philadelphia district attorney became Philadelphia’s chief prosecutor without having prosecuted any cases.

With $1.4 million from Soros, Krasner had no problem winning the election in 2017.

In an interview with NBC, Krasner questioned the current judicial system, saying that arresting repeat offenders repeatedly does not work. 

“But what they’re not saying is this system has engaged this person, arrested this person 15 times, convicted them seven times, put them in jail four times, and nothing worked. It all failed. They’re not owning that,” he added. “So it is obvious to me that we have needed to go a different direction for a very long time. It ain’t working,” Krasner said.

Krasner diverted a significant number of gun-related cases from prosecution to rehabilitation programs in his first year in office, The Trace reported. 

According to Philadelphia city statistics, crime this year is 30% higher than the same period last year, but Krasner said this was due to poverty and the criminal justice system.

“You know, the truth is that poverty equals bullets. And poverty has always equaled bullets. The truth is we haven’t dealt with poverty. You know, we haven’t dealt with all kinds of things. And in many ways, the criminal justice system has caused this problem,” he said.

Krasner also faced criticism last month from residents who said he had allowed drug trafficking to damage their neighborhoods by not prosecuting enough cases.

Chesa Boudin

Chesa Boudin is San Francisco’s 29th district attorney. He promised during his campaign that he would decriminalize certain ‘quality of life’ crimes such as urinating on the street.

“We will not prosecute cases involving quality-of-life crimes. Crimes such as public camping, offering or soliciting sex, public urination, blocking a sidewalk, etc., should not and will not be prosecuted,” Boudin said.

Boudin’s parents were members of the terrorist group Weather Underground. When they were incarcerated for murder, he was raised by the leaders of the terrorist group.

San Francisco particularly has been singled out in several reports for becoming a city of homeless people who urinate, defecate, and take drugs on the streets, partly because of the policies of these city officials.

John Creuzot

Dallas County District Attorney John Creuzot won the 2019 election with Soros’s help.

Creuzot announced that he would not prosecute thefts under $750 if what was stolen were “necessary items.”

“Personal items are limited to necessary items. Personal items would include items such as necessary food, diapers, and baby formula,” the prosecutor said.

Homicides in Dallas reached historic records in his first year as a prosecutor, and the trend appears to be continuing, the Dallas Morning News reported.
