Renowned investor Leon Cooperman harshly criticized Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.). “She represents the worst in politicians,” said the president and CEO of Omega Advisors.
Cooperman’s statements came after Warren posted a video on Twitter discrediting several financiers.
Indeed, in addition to Cooperman, the film titled “Elizabeth Warren Stands Up To Billionaires” is also directed at former CEO of TD Ameritrade Joe Ricketts, former CEO of Goldman Sachs Lloyd Blankfein, and Silicon Valley investor Peter Thiel.
Cooperman appears in the video labeled “ACCUSED OF USE OF PRIVILEGED INFORMATION,” referring to a 2016 case where the billionaire was charged with insider trading by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. At that time, the financier denied the charges.
In an interview with CNBC, Cooperman said he actually won the case: “She doesn’t know who the [obscenity]she’s tweeting,” he said.
Warren has gained notoriety within the political left for pointing out that taxes should be raised for the wealthy.
“She’s disgraceful. I gave away more in the year than she has in her whole lifetime,” Cooperman added on Wednesday.
“She represents the worst in politicians,” he added.
Warren replied tweeting: “Leon is wrong. I’m fighting for big changes like universal child care, investing in public schools, and free public college.”
The presidential candidate, who was on the rise in voting intent within the Democratic Party, fell in the polls after revealing her wealth tax plan.
“Her policies are counterproductive, they are negative for capitalism … you don’t make the poor rich by making the rich poor,” Cooperman explained.
