Sen. Linsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Sunday fumed at Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) over her comments on President Donald Trump’s handling of the CCP Virus (Wuhan coronavirus) pandemic.
“She’s blaming the president of the United States for people dying because of the way he’s led the country,” Graham said on Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures.” “That’s the most shameful, disgusting statement by any politician in modern history.”
Speaking earlier on CCN’s “State of Union,” Pelosi said the president’s initial downplaying of the seriousness of the virus and his delay in ramping up the federal government’s response to it has proved “deadly” for Americans.
“His denial at the beginning was deadly, his delaying of getting equipment … to where it is needed is deadly, and now the best thing to do would be to prevent more loss of life, rather than open things up so that, because we just don’t know,” Pelosi said.
Pelosi also criticized President Trump for suggesting that he wants to open the country back up as soon as possible by considering to relax federal guidelines on business closures and social distancing in parts of the country so far less affected by the CCP Virus.
“As the president fiddles, people are dying. We just have to take every precaution,” she said.
Graham slammed Pelosi for being “the first politician to blame another politician for people dying,” adding that she was the one who held up the historic relief package approved last week.
“This is the same speaker of the House who held up the bill in the Senate for days because she wanted same-day voting, she wanted carbon neutrality for the airlines, she wanted $75 million for the endowment for the humanities, and $25 million for the Kennedy Center,” Graham said.
“She is the one that held up the package in the Senate for days to get the Green New Deal put in a recovery package. So it’s the most shameful, disgusting thing I have heard yet. And it needs to stop,” he added.
Pelosi seems to forget too soon her obsession to impeach President Trump, in which she had delayed the trial in Senate for several weeks, while the first death from the virus was reported and the president took an early response by imposing the China travel ban. Breitbart News’s Joel Pollak has put together a telling timeline that shows exactly what Pelosi and her fellow Democrats were doing as the CCP Virus loomed.
On Feb. 4, President Trump delivered his State of the Union address, in which he said the U.S. is coordinating with the Chinese government on the outbreak.
“Protecting Americans’ health also means fighting infectious diseases. We are coordinating with the Chinese government and working closely together on the coronavirus outbreak in China. My administration will take all necessary steps to safeguard our citizens from this threat,” the president said.
At the end of the president’s speech, Pelosi stood behind him and ripped the speech in half, calling it a “pack of lies.”
The impeachment drama ended on Feb. 5, a full 26 days after the virus was known, and a full 16 days after it had arrived in the United States and all Democrats had done was to focus on the partisan impeachment.
