CNN and The Daily Beast are both to pay the price for spreading fake news, as Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), vows to hold them both “accountable.”

Both news outlets have recently falsely reported stories about Nunes and his involvement in Ukraine, and he is taking court action against them both.

Speaking with Sean Hannity on Fox News on Nov. 25, Nunes said, “I understand the last week and a half, it was a, it was a disaster for them. It was a train wreck for them,” Nunes told Hannity. “So what did they have to do? They had to come out and say, well, look, Devin Nunes was actually the one that was meeting with all of these Ukrainians. So sorry, CNN. It’s totally false.”

Last week the two outlets published articles about him, claiming Nunes had met with Ukrainian Prosecutor General Victor Shokin in Vienna in 2018, to push for a probe into former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter, regarding their business dealings in Ukraine. The articles cited Lev Parnas, a former associate of the president’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani. Parnas was indicted in October for conspiring to violate the ban on foreign donations.

After the stories broke on Friday, Nunes then began to question if the source was valid. Speaking with Hannity, he said the stories were the “mother of all fake news stories.”

Several other news outlets had been given the story but refused to cover it.

“For all of the last three years, including the Russia hoax to the Ukraine hoax, this is the mother of all fake news stories. There is not one bigger than this,” Nunes said. “And so next week, we are going to take them to court. They will have an opportunity to come to court so that we can subpoena each other. We can get discovery. We can set people down for depositions. And I have a bet for you, Sean. CNN and The Daily Beast are going to run for cover.”

Nunes said for the last three years, CNN and The Daily Beast have “clearly had malice” toward President Trump, Republicans, and himself. He called the story “demonstrably false and scandalous fake news.”

“The House Intelligence Committee Republicans, we continue to expose Democrat corruption over and over again. And what always happens is right when we expose them … they go out to kill the messenger,” Nunes told Fox News.

“At the end of the day, I’m going to track them down, and I’m going to hold them accountable because this … has just gone on for too long,” Nunes said. “And this is the only way we’re going to be able to to get retribution and get in and be able to seek fairness and transparency in the media is by holding them accountable.”
