The spying that the United States accuses the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) of is increasing with the unwitting help of local authorities when using the drones donated by the regime, according to lawmaker Jim Banks.

The risk posed to the security of the United States by the drones produced by the company Da-Jiang Innovations (DJI), controlled by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), is denounced by Rep. Jim Banks (R.-Ind.), a member of the House Armed Services Committee and the Congressional Task Force on China, according to The Washington Free Beacon.

“The federal government has become wise to the Chinese Communist Party’s infiltration, but state and local governments have not uniformly become as vigilant,” Banks said.

Several manufacturers linked to the Chinese regime have donated more than 100 drones to authorities in 22 states across the country, and these continue to use them despite a ban by the Defense Department and other federal agencies.

In particular, the use of these drones could be helping the CCPs to collect sensitive data on Americans and their local governments. This information would be sent to their databases.

Banks sent a letter to Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb (R),  warning him of the dangers of collecting data with drones donated by the CCP, and urging him to ban their use.

“Prohibiting DJI drones and other drone companies with significant ties to the Chinese Communist Party from being used in support of state or local government operations” was one of Banks’s recommendations to Holcomb.

Holcomb is considered “friendly” by the CCP, as he and other U.S. officials with whom he had contact last year described him. The CCP has sought to strengthen its relations with local authorities, which pose national security risks.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also warned of this during a meeting in February with the National Governors Association.

“Indeed, last year, a Chinese government-backed think tank in Beijing produced a report that assessed all 50 of America’s governors on their attitude toward China. They labeled each of you “friendly,” “hardline,” or “ambiguous.'” Pompeo said at the time, reminding the governors that they too are in competition with the CCP, which in turn has them classified.

In one of his tweets, Banks also showed surprise at the Democrats’ refusal to confront the threat posed by the CCP to various aspects of the United States.

“The FBI says they open a new counterintelligence investigation into Chinese espionage in USA every ten hours!!!”

“Astonishing that Dems refuse to address China Threat and #CCP activities to steal our jobs, wreck our economy, and change our way of life!!,” Banks wrote in his message.
