On Tuesday, Jan. 19, President Trump delivered a farewell address to the nation, in which he highlighted the American spirit and freedom and claimed that “the movement we started is only just beginning.”

“Four years ago, we launched a great national effort to rebuild our country, to renew its spirit, and to restore the allegiance of this government to its citizens,” the president stated, stressing that he came to the White House to help make America great again.

“As I conclude my term as the 45th President of the United States I stand before you truly proud of what we have achieved together.” He continued, “We did what we came here to do—and so much more.”

President Trump said that he hoped the incoming administration would successfully keep the United States safe and prosperous.

“This week, we inaugurate a new administration and pray for its success in keeping America safe and prosperous. We extend our best wishes, and we also want them to have luck—a very important word,” he said.

During the 20-minute speech, President Trump said that he has taken on the toughest battles during his presidency.

“I did not seek the easiest course. By far, it was actually the most difficult,” the president said. “I did not seek the path that would get the least criticism. I took on the tough battles, the hardest fights, the most difficult choices because that’s what you elected me to do.”

President Trump listed several accomplishments that his administration achieved, including building the greatest economy in the history of the world, rallying the world to stand up to Chinese Communist Party (CCP) like never before, defeating the ISIS caliphate, securing the nation’s borders, finding vaccines to fight the CCP Virus (coronavirus) and much more.

“With the support and prayers of the American people, we achieved more than anyone thought possible. Nobody thought we could even come close,” he said.

“We restored American strength at home and American leadership abroad. The world respects us again. Please don’t lose that respect,” President Trump said, leaving a strong message to the next administration.

Mentioning the dangers threatening the United States, President Trump said that the nation faces constant threats and challenges from abroad, “but the greatest danger we face is a loss of confidence in ourselves, a loss of confidence in our national greatness.”

“No nation can long thrive that loses faith in its own values, history, and heroes, for these are the very sources of our unity and our vitality,” he added.

President Trump informed that he prepares to “hand power over to a new administration at noon on Wednesday.”

“I want you to know that the movement we started is only just beginning,” he said.

Before finishing his speech, President Trump once again reminded Americans of their strength: “As long as the American people hold in their hearts deep and devoted love of country, then there is nothing that this nation cannot achieve. Our communities will flourish. Our people will be prosperous. Our traditions will be cherished. Our faith will be strong. And our future will be brighter than ever before.”

President Trump is expected to participate in a farewell ceremony at Joint Base Andrews on Wednesday morning before boarding Air Force One for his final flight as president.
