President Donald Trump on Wednesday, Oct. 2, said Democrats were wasting everyone’s time and energy on nonsense amid a formal impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump after a whistleblower complaint surfaced.
He tweeted: “The Do Nothing Democrats should be focused on building up our Country, not wasting everyone’s time and energy on B*******, which is what they have been doing ever since I got overwhelmingly elected in 2016, 223-306. Get a better candidate this time, you’ll need it!”
Last week, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) launched a formal impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump after a whistleblower complaint surfaced. The whistleblower accuses the president of forcing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to probe into President Trump’s political rival Joe Biden.
“We want this to be done expeditiously,” Pelosi instructed Democrats. “Expeditiously.”
“There is a desire to finish this as fast as possible,” Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.) said after a private meeting with Pelosi last week.
The Hill’s Douglas Schoen, a Democratic campaign consultant, concluded that the chances of Democratic efforts to successfully remove the president from office are slim to none.
“From a political and practical standpoint, while these accusations against the president are indeed serious and disturbing,” Schoen wrote, adding that “the Democrats will almost certainly not achieve their end goal of removing Trump from office, given the Republican Senate majority.”
“It is a profound error to focus the country on an impeachment inquiry, notably at a time when close to 60 percent of the American people are currently against impeaching the president,” Schoen wrote.
