President Donald Trump was welcomed with chants of “four more years” during his speech at a House Republican retreat in Baltimore on Thursday, Sept. 12.
House Republicans were holding their annual retreat at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel in Harbor East and President Trump attended and addressed the conference.
“Winning is a good thing, isn’t it?” the president kicked off his speech by raising a question at a crowd of lawmakers and staff clapping hands. “Thank you very much!”
The president was thanking House Republican leadership and members-elect Dan Bishop and Greg Murphy, who won special elections in North Carolina on Tuesday, according to The Hill.
The enthusiastic crowd then chanted, “Four more years! Four more years!”

In his speech, President Trump highlighted the role of House Republicans over the past three years, praising their work on the tax bill, Veterans Affairs reforms, and deregulation.
“Over the past two-and-a-half years we have already delivered unprecedented progress for citizens of every background and walk of life. Now we must go directly to the American people to share the story of what we have achieved and to explain our bold vision for the future,” he said.
The president said he plans to announce another tax cut for the middle class next year.
As the Democratic presidential primary debate was taking place in Houston, Texas, President Trump used his address as a chance to attack Democrats of embracing “radical socialism and open borders.”
President Trump renewed his pledge to build a border wall, saying he plans to have 500 additional miles built by the end of 2020.
The president then applauded the strength of U.S. economy, at the same time taking aims at the bias media.
“The combination of everything worked because we probably have right now the strongest economy in the history of our nation,” he said. “And what the media is trying – they want a recession so badly.”
President Trump said the United States is winning the trade war with China and vowed to achieve stronger trade deals.
Targeting the progressives and Democratic presidential candidates and their policies, President Trump said, “The left-wing agenda of total government domination, crushing regulation, crippling taxes, unrestricted migration … it is undermining all law enforcement, they undermine law enforcement, and they devastate America’s inner cities.”
The president then came back to praise the values of Republican Party.
“We believe that there is no treasure on earth more valuable than our American citizenship. We believe that children should be taught to love our country, honor our history, cherish our heroes, and always respect our great American flag,” he said.
“These are the values that unite us tonight. These are the values that bind our country. These are the values the American people share deep in their souls. And these are the values that Republicans will champion all across the land. And that is what is happening, and that is why people love what you are doing. That is why people are loving the Republican party again.”
The president concluded his speech by telling House Republicans that ‘the best is yet to come.’
“We will make America stronger and safer and prouder and greater than ever before,” he said.
