Alveda King, niece of historic human rights activist Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., said on Thursday that President Donald Trump “is not a racist.”
Alveda King was very forceful in her statements during an interview on Fox News, which she later shared on her Twitter account.
“I am the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Listen to my words… President Trump is not a racist! He is one of the best presidents America has ever seen! I fully support him,” wrote King.
Alveda King assured viewers that she has seen true racism very closely.
“My uncle was shot, my father was shot, my grandmother was shot, a bomb exploded in my house, and I was there. President Trump is not a racist,” Ms. King repeated.
Dr. King’s niece said President Trump has done a great deal for all Americans, including African Americans, and she says she would like to ask those who claim otherwise if they “have ever met a true racist.”
Referring to criticism of President Trump and First Lady Melania’s visit to the scenes of last weekend’s bloody shootings in Ohio and Texas, she said, “President Trump and First Lady Melania were there looking for solutions.”
“We must overcome evil with good,” she added.
King also highlighted the hypocrisy of liberals who call President Trump racist and at the same time support abortion.
“Many of those who call Trump a racist and white supremacist, most of them support murder in a very brutal way called abortion,” she said.
“The youngest, the weakest, the most beautiful of us, killing them in the womb. How immoral is that?”
President Trump said in a speech Monday after the shooting: “In one voice, our nation must condemn racism, bigotry, and white supremacy.”
“These sinister ideologies must be defeated. Hate has no place in America. Hatred warps the mind, ravages the heart, and devours the soul,” added President Trump, according to a transcript of his remarks posted on the White House Web site.
