President Donald Trump said in a tweet on Tuesday, Nov. 12, that many recipients of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program are “far from angels,” and some are even “tough, hardened criminals.”

However, the president said if the Supreme Court overturns the Obama-era policy, “a deal will be made with the Dems for them to stay!”

President Trump made the statement as the high court is slated to determine the fate of hundreds of thousands of immigrants who came to the United States with their parents illegally but as children, according to CBS News.

The Supreme Court begins hearing oral arguments on Tuesday over the Trump administration’s attempt to end DACA.

The administration has called the Supreme Court to strike down the immigration policy enacted by the Obama administration in 2012, which allowed hundreds of thousands of young illegal aliens to remain in the United States without fear of deportation.

According to Politico, the Democrat-controlled House in June approved a bill to grant conditional legal status to an estimated 2.3 million “Dreamers,” but Congress has failed to pass a comprehensive solution.

The Supreme Court said at that time it would hear arguments over the Trump administration’s DACA termination, and a decision by the justices is likely to come next spring or as late as the end of June 2020.
